Te Mana Taumaru Matauranga: intellectual property guide for Maori organisations and communities

Tēnā koutou katoa

Some of you may be aware that the Ministry of Economic Development has very recently produced a publication on intellectual property rights aimed specifically at Maori communities, organisations and individuals. Te Mana Taumaru Mātauranga is a free resource, which provides practical information on the opportunities, limitations and risks of using the current intellectual property system to protect and promote mātauranga Māori. The guide comprises of a booklet and a CD-ROM.

The guide is part of stage one of the Ministry's traditional knowledge work programme. More information on the work programme can be found at http://www.med.govt.nz/templates/ContentTopicSummary____1937.aspx

Please let me know your postal address if you, or someone you know, is interested in getting a hard copy of Te Mana Taumaru Mātauranga. Alternatively an online version of the booklet can be found at http://www.med.govt.nz/templates/MultipageDocumentTOC____28180.aspx
