Williams’ Art department offers students an unparalleled undergraduate education in the histories and practices of visual art.  With a curriculum ranging from Greek art to Chinese calligraphy, and from painting to video art and architectural design, the department is renowned for its scope, its diverse faculty and its accomplished alumni.

The department is built on the conviction that making and studying art go hand in hand.  Occupying two buildings and sharing premises with Williams College Museum of Art, the art department is one of the biggest in the college. Professors engage with students in diverse settings—seminars, tutorials, and lectures—and students benefit from an array of opportunities—critiques, exhibitions, and travel—as they progress through the program.
