RUSS 301(F) Russian Culture and Civilization

An introduction to the foundations of Russian culture and civilization as reflected in art, architecture, music, film, and literature. The course will not attempt to provide a broad survey, but instead will focus on a small number of topics, the selection of which may vary from year to year. Primary course readings will be in Russian, some background reading will be in English. Class sessions will be conducted in Russian. Requirements: several short written assignments and class presentations. Final project on a topic to be selected by the student in consultation with the instructor. Prerequisites: Russian 202 or permission of the instructor.
