PSYC 358 Personality Assessment (Not offered 1998-99; to be offered 1999-2000)

This course focuses on the psychological study of individual lives. We learn about the methods of personality assessment used by clinical and research psychologists to discover the traits, motives, and life themes that contribute to the unique personality of each individual. This approach to the study of personality is used to illuminate the lives of ordinary individuals and prominent public figures. Students have first-hand experience in the administration and interpretation of personality assessment methods, investigating topics such as motivation, creativity, coping and defenses, and personal identity. Requirements: two hour tests and a final paper. Prerequisite: Psychology 201 or permission of instructor and Psychology 251. Empirical Project
