Setting a Forgotten Password Reminder

It is more secure to set your own password reminder, rather than use the system default reminder. However, be careful to set up a reminder question and answer that you will remember. If you forget the answer, you may e-mail facsis@williams.edu for help, but solving this problem requires OIT intervention and may take some time.

From the opening menu, click My System Profile

General Profile Information

Click on Change or set up forgotten password help.

Change forgotten password reminder

There are several pre-defined questions you can choose from in the Question dropdown. Click one of the questions and type in your answer as Response.

Note: Your Response is not case-sensitive. The response will be stored in uppercase regardless of how they are entered.

Click OK, then Click Save.

Once you have changed your Password Help setup, your selected reminder question will appear rather than the system default reminder when you use the Forgot My Password routine. A wrong answer will result in an error message being displayed and possibly your account being locked. If you are completely stuck at this point, you'll need to e-mail facsis@williams.edu for help, but help in this case requires OIT intervention and may take some time.
