At Christmas time, at one of the several Xmas markets in Vienna, the one in front of the Austrtian National Gallery, Belvedere, our assistants, dressed as elves, a snowman and St. Nicholas, will greet visitors and distribute "Gift" boxes of the Klimt portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I, 1907. This and four other paintings by Klimt were at the center of an ultimately successful legal case brought by a Jewish family asking for the restitution of what was rightly theirs, these Klimt paintings they inherited.
In der Vorweihnachtszeit verkleiden sich unsere Mitarbeiter als Wichtel, Schneemann und Nikolaus und verteilen auf einem der vielen Weihnachtsmärkte, dem bei der Österreichischen Galerie Belvedere, “Gift”-Schachteln mit Klimts Portrait von Adele Bloch-Bauer I, 1907. Dieses Gemälde, sowie vier andere Kunstwerke von Klimt, standen im Mittelpunkt des erfolgreichen Prozesses einer jüdischen Familie, die ihren rechtlichen Besitz, nämlich eben diese geerbten Bilder, zurückverlangte.
