PROBLEM: Equidistribution of Normalized Roots of Polynomials mod p

INVESTIGATOR: Leo Goldmakher

DESCRIPTION: For an irreducible polynomial f(x), consider the roots to f(x) equivalent
to zero mod p. Divide by p, so the normalized roots lie in [0,1). If f(x) is quadratic, it is known
that the normalized roots are equidistributed in [0,1) (see Duke-Friedlander-Iwaniec). A survey
of DFI is given, as well as numerical investigations of higher degree irreducible polynomials.
