personal statement and CV to the Fellowships Office March 8.

Message details:
Students applying for the Hutchinson Fellowship in art, dance, English,
music, or theatre must submit a completed application to Lynn Chick in the
Fellowships Office, Hopkins Hall, Friday, March 8, at 4:00pm.
Submit your application as an attachment to email to
mary.lynn.chick@williams.edu Create the personal statement and CV as ONE
Microsoft word document or PDF with your last name in the title of the
document. Your application should conform to the guidelines listed below.
A completed application shall consist of the following three parts:
1. Personal Statement
A personal statement of no more than 1000 words. The personal statement
should:
* Specify under which branch of the arts you are applying. Students may
not apply in more than one category. If your field is inter-disciplinary,
you should note on your application all relevant fields.
* Describe your artistic work both at Williams and, if relevant,
elsewhere.
* Explain how this work relates to your future plans.
* Explain how the Hutchinson Fellowship would support these future plans.
2. Curriculum Vitae A current c.v. that includes relevant academic and
experiential information.
3. Supporting Materials - Note Due Dates - Submit directly to the
Department
Applicants in Art: Each student will submit a CD which should include two
folders, named "Visual Material" and "Supporting Material". Within the
Visual Material folder please include fifteen images (each at a resolution
of 72 dpi, and sized to be 1000 pixels or less on the longest side) or a
video/dvd no more than five minutes burned to a DVD that is cued to start.
Each jpg should be labeled with you last name, first initial and number,
for example, Smith_J_01.jpg, Smith_J_02.jpg, etc. Do not put your images
in PowerPoint, but submit them as individual jpg. Within the Supporting
Material folder, please include a copy of the Personal Statement, a
Summary of the Personal Statement (no more than 100 words), a curriculum
vitae, and an image list. The image list should include the following
information about each numbered image: Title, medium, dimensions, date.
Other essential information, like the location of an installation, that is
necessary to understanding the image may also be included. Submit your CD
to Beverly Sylvester in the Art Department by 4PM on Tuesday, April 2.
Applicants in Theatre: Any additional materials to support an application
in theatre, such as samples of design work, director's production books,
dramaturgical research, etc., as well as a copy of your personal statement
and curriculum vitae should be submitted to the department chair by Monday,
March 11.
Applicants in Music: Composers - a brief list of compositions written at
Williams. Performers - a brief list of performances during your time at
Williams both solo and with ensembles. Submit to the Music Dept Chair by
Monday, April 1. Candidates should be prepared to submit audio
recordings if requested by the department by Thursday, April 4.
Applicants in English: Fiction submissions: up to three stories,
double-spaced, not exceeding a total of 60 pages. Poetry submissions:
ten pages of poetry. Submit one electronic copy to
Patricia.S.Malanga@williams.edu no later than March 15, at 4pm.
Applicants in Dance: Candidates must submit to the Dance Department a DVD
that clearly represents their work as a choreographer and performer no
later than Tuesday, March 12.

constitutes "relevant supporting material," please contact your
department. The Hutchinson Committee anticipates announcing recipients of
the fellowship in April.
