INFORMATION

Those applying to PhD programs and many masters level programs are required to take the Graduate Record Exam, otherwise known as the GRE. As you explore graduate programs in more detail you will find out whether or not the GRE is required and if you need to take special Subject Tests. The best source of information about the exam is the ETS Website, so study it carefully at: http://www.gre.org.

TRAVEL TO THE TEST SITE

Because the GRE is now administered electronically at specially designated test sites, you will need to find transportation on the test date. The OCC has arranged for free transportation to the Prometric Testing Center in Albany on specific test dates (see below), for the 8:30 a.m. exam.

Make sure that you register for an 8:30 a.m. exam to be given on one of the dates specified below in order to secure a ride. This will mean registering well in advance. Be at Chapin Hall steps at 6:30 a.m. to arrive in Albany on time for the 8:30 a.m. exam. The van will leave from the front steps of Chapin Hall at 7 a.m. and return by 11 a.m., if not a bit earlier.
