The Meteosat satellite sweeps from south towards north. For this image at 10:30 UTC (i.e 12:30 local), the zone concerned with the eclipse is in fact swept for a few minutes before 10 hours 25 UTC. On the colored composite, the effects of shade of the eclipse (partial or total), which appears in dark blue, are variable depending on the presence or not of clouds. Meteosat 7 is located at 36 000 km above the equator. The colors are artificially obtained by compilation of measurements of radiation, both visible and infra-red.
