Williams College 2001 Coronal Temperature and Polarization Experiment: Roban Hultman Kramer, Swarthmore 2003, roban@sccs.swarthmore.edu [*ed entry is current top priority] *____________________________________________ *Polarization for Peter Smith of the UVCS team at the CFA Status: Bias subtraction completed. I have formulae for polarization intensity and angle based on intensity measurements through polarizers separated by 45 degrees. Initial image alignment (in IDL) is complete, as are first temperature and polarization maps. Next: Try redundant formulae. Assemble equipment for possible future lab calibration! ____________________________________________ Coronal Temperature Status: bias subtraction completed. Next: ____________________________________________ Reading WinView (SPE) files in IDL (read_princeton.pro) Status: fully functional for our purposes. semi-generalized. Update: 7-20-2001, I realized that we were getting negative pixel values because read_princeton was reading the data as a signed integer, rather than an unsigned integer. This is fixed and I am re-converting all the files. Plan: read_princeton.pro could be generalized further, especially made to read more header info. ____________________________________________ Converting WinView (SPE) files to FITS in IDL (SPEtoFITS.pro, read_princeton.pro) Status: fully functional for our purposes. not very generalized. All SPE files have been converted to FITS using this program. Plan: I'd like to add as much mapping of WinView headers to FITS headers as is possible. Talk to Tom Balonek about his program. ____________________________________________ Reading WinView (SPE) files directly into IRAF Status: not started, currently using FITS files produced in IDL. This may not get done this summer. Plan: use IRAF "import" task to read pixel data. make an entry that can be added to the images.dat file. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to get header information. Talk to Tom Balonek about his program.
