Welcome to Introduction to Operations Research! I wanted to take a few minutes to introduce myself. I've posted a brief welcome letter introducing myself, my family and my research interests here (which has more recent pics of your TAs).
The purpose of this course is to expose you to advanced topics in linear algebra and operations research, with an emphasis on mathematical modeling. In the process we will work on many skills useful for graduate school and beyond. Click here for a more detailed explanation of my objectives for the course. This course can count as either a math or a stats course. A major part of the semester will be a project (which can be done in a group), culminating in a paper and presentation. This are very valuable skills. Additionally, I am trying to work with local businesses to give you access to real world problems and consulting opportunities.
If you have any concerns or suggestions for the course and would prefer to communicate them anonymously, you may email me by using the account ephsmath@gmail.com (the password is the first eight Fibonacci numbers, 011235813).
Looking forward to seeing you all. //Steve
PS: Two of your TAs: Cam (he's now 7) and Kayla (now 5) from the first time they taught this class....
