Note to Open Source Journals requesting my referee or author services.
Greetings. I receive numerous requests to referee papers from open source journals which charge authors to publish their papers and are interested in my services as a referee due to my expertise. To save time, similar to how journals list their fee structures online, I am listing mine; all funds collected will be donated by me to support math outreach efforts in schools and programs.
I charge $50 to read the initial referee request, which if you elect to hire me is credited to the cost of my services. The cost of refereeing a paper is a function of the amount of time you give me for the task.
In any email to me where you state you are familiar with my work and expertise, that must mean you have investigated me and are aware of these conditions which are publicly posted on my webpage, and thus please do not send me requests from such journals unless these are acceptable to you. Upon receipt of your email I will send you information on how to wire either the $50 or the percentage of the page charges; I require at least half the total compensation in advance, and the remainder upon submission of the referee report. If I need to review a revision there is no charge for that, and after reviewing 5 papers for your journal at these rates the sixth is free.
If you are asking me to write a paper for your journal, if your journal has page charges then I charge $50 to read the first email, and the amount for writing a paper is a function of your charges. Subsequent emails are $25 each, except that a letter professing unawareness of my fee structure incurs a reduced charge of $15.
