VICTOR E. HILL IV is the Thomas T. Read Professor of Mathematics, Emeritus, at Williams College, where he was also for 41 years the harpsichordist and director of Griffin Hall Concerts. His principal mathematical interests are in group representation theory, mathematics of finance, and history of mathematics; he also taught several courses at Williams in English literature. Dr. Hill studied organ and harpsichord in New York and Amsterdam with Vernon de Tar and Gustav Leonhardt; he has played more than 900 concerts throughout the U.S. and in Europe. Since 1982 he has served as Archivist of the Association of Anglican Musicians, an organization of professionals in the Episcopal Church, the Anglican Church of Canada, and the Church of England.
