Camera del Sole e della Luna

Nei documenti e definita 'salotto'; e quindi un ambiente destinato agli ospiti, che precede, nell'organizzazione cinquecentesca degli spazi, le camere intime delle Imprese e delle Metamorfosi. Nel riquadro centrale, il carro del Sole e il carro della Luna, condotti rispettivamente da Apollo e Diana, sono dipinti con un potente effetto di scorcio. Le pareti sono ornate da bassorilievi collocati verso la fine del Settecento.

Room of the Sun and the Moon

In sixteenth century documents this room is defined as a 'salotto,' and thus it was a reception room for guests that prededed the more intimate rooms of the Devices and the Metamorphoses. In the central vault are depicted, in dramatic foreshortening, the chariots of the Sun and the Moon, driven by Apollo and Diana respectively. The walls are decorated with reliefs made in the eighteenth century.
