Construction Progress
18 December 2007

Both the North and South Academic Buildings have been completely tented--among other reasons, so that it's warm enough inside for the masons to continue laying block and applying brick. So there's not much to see from beyond the perimeter of the construction fence. The weather has been uncooperative for the last three weeks, which has slowed progress slightly. But windows will soon be installed on the top floor of the NAB, and the copper roof is being applied to the W face of the NAB by the intrepid roofing team.

Here's the S face of the NAB, with Sawyer to the right.

In the upper left corner of the NAB's W face, you can just make out the seamed copper roof under the snow. In the foreground, sheathed in insulation, is the so-called "helmet room," which will house a new language lab and a second-floor classroom.

Here's a view of the South Academic Building, looking S from Sawyer Library toward the First Congregational Church.

Inside the tenting, the NAB is almost completely sectioned off into rooms, and the ductwork and wiring are advancing at a rapid clip. This is a shot of the future 2-story gallery taken from the second-floor bridge.
