Construction Progress
12 February 2008

Work is going well on both buildings. We haven't posted new images in many weeks because until recently the buildings have been extensively tented, and most of the progress on brickwork, etc., wasn't visible. But the situation is changing fast, and good views of the new buildings are quickly beginning to emerge.

This is the NAB, looking toward the N. You can see the copper roof, the brick exterior (a dead match for the brickwork on Stetson and Lehman), and the windows on the first and second floors.

A view of the NAB from main entrance of Stetson Hall. The yellow-green blocks of masonry to the left are the first stage of a set of piers that will project E from the building at the location of the Faculty Lounge.

Same side of NAB looking S, with Sawyer to the left.

View W from the top floor of the NAB. You can see Lehman to the right and Bernhard Music Center to the left, with Chapin just beyond. It's a beautiful roofscape.

This is the N-S gallery of the SAB, which is essentially a smaller version of the NAB gallery. It lacks the NAB's ornamental staircase. Progress on the SAB is roughly two weeks behind that of the NAB.

Both buildings have third-story clerestories to bring in light.

Here you can see the wood decking being installed in the ceiling of the NAB gallery. Similar decking will cover the SAB gallery. The area above the decking will eventually be covered with a green (planted) roof and will be open to the sky.
