Spring 2004:

Associate Chaplain Rabbi Sigma Coran discussed the relationship of science to Judaism.

Professor Lois Banta discussed evolutionary biology.

Professor William Darrow, Williams College Religion Department, discussed concepts of "place" and "sacred" as they enter into interpretations of religious experience.

Professor Will Dudley, Williams College Philosophy Department, discussed implications of the philosophies of David Hume and Immanuel Kant.

Professor Wesley J. Wildman, Associate Professor of Theology and Ethics in Boston University's School of Theology, discussed pragmatism in science and religion. He also gave a public lecture with the title, "Rationality in Science and Religion: A Pragmatist Approach." His visit to Williams was supported by a special grant from the American Scientific Affiliation, and his public lecture was sponsored by the Religion, Philosophy and Physics Departments.

 

 

Spring 2003:

Professor William Darrow discussed the origins of religion.

Rabbi Deborah Zucker, Rabbi at Hevreh of South Berkshire and former Williams Associate Chaplain, discussed responses to modern science by contemporary Reform Judaism.

Professor Lois Banta, Williams College Biology Department, discussed evolutionary biology.

Professor William Wootters, Williams College Physics Department, discussed quantum uncertainty and non-locality.
