In 1998, a Committee of the American
Psychology-Law Society published a
white paper that reviews the scientific
evidence on eyewitness identification
and proposed rules for how lineups
and photo spreads should be conducted. This
article was published in Law and
Human Behavior. |

In 1999, the U.S. National
Institute
of Justice developed
research-based guidelines
on how to collect eyewitness
identifications in ways
that minimize error.
The recommendations were
published in Eyewitness
Evidence:
A Guide for Law Enforcement.

what propositions concerning eyewitness
behavior are "generally accepted" by
the scientific community. The results
